The client secured distribution agreements for a range of German rainwater harvesting products and needed a website based on a commercial ecommerce platform. The target visitor profile was ‘UK consumers biased to the south of England with interest in the environment and in harvesting rainwater for garden and household use’. The client was prepared to support the site with a pay per click campaign but with a target of limiting the paid visits to 25% of the total visits. The site was to encourage incoming enquiries by phone due to the ticket prices of the products on offer (circa £1500). The primary search keywords were variations on rainwater harvesting.
Internet Assets Ltd built an extensive information and ecommerce website supported by secure online facilities supplied by Barclay Business. The site was built to be very spider friendly with comprehensive seo planning where the ecommerce software allowed. The visitor was supplied with detailed information both in the general subject matter of the environment, how to, FAQs and white papers and in the supporting product data. This deliberate policy demanded the interest of the search engine spiders. The site was marketed by IA Ltd with Adwords, extensive sitemapping, article submission, link campaigns, RSS news releases both in and out of the site and monitered with Google Analytics.
The site was conceived in January 2008 and operational by March 2008. It dominates the natural search for the target keywords and Page Ranks at 4. The company supported Internet activity with exhibitions, email marketing and some trade and consumer advertising. Sales even during the recession of 2008/9 exceeded targets and currently run at £1m + per annum and unique site visits are running at a conservative 8500 per month.
